Parents,

This is an unprecedented time. New information regarding the measures taken to stop the spread of this virus continue to be shared it seems by the minute.

Last night the Michigan governor made it clear that all K-12 schools, private and public must close beginning Monday. Face to face instruction must cease until April 5th at least.

I wish I had answers to give you right now as to what that means for instruction, sports, concerts, anniversary celebrations, spring break, etc. I simply don’t know. And, I promise to be in touch through this means when I know more.

What I do know is found written clearly in Psalm 31. But I trust in you, O LORD; I say “You are my God.” My times are in your hands; deliver me from my enemies and from those who pursue me. Let your face shine on your servant; save me in your unfailing love.

I am also convinced, as the Apostle Paul writes in Romans 8, that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This is my hope and confidence and is yours as well. We will try and make today as normal as possible at ML. We’ll ask students to take their books home and be ready to learn remotely if that’s where this heads. Our teachers will be meeting to discuss this, and we will await word from those in charge.

Throughout all of this, please do not panic. Reach out to me if you have questions. My cell is 269-313-6222 and my email is principal@michiganlutheran.org.

Sincerely,

Matthew Herbst

MLHS Principal
