FAQ – To be shared with students and faculty.
When will virtual education begin?
All students will be required to begin ML Virtual Education on Wednesday, March 18. It is highly likely that some teachers will begin sharing information as early as Monday, March 16. However, attendance won’t begin until March 18th.
Where will my class meet online?
Each Teacher will have a Google Classroom. These will be ready to be joined by Tuesday, March 17th at 3:15. Most were created and invitations were sent to both student and parent in our first session of faculty in-service on Monday morning.
How will we do daily attendance?
Daily Attendance will be taken by answering a daily post in the Chapel/Homeroom page. This post needs to be completed by Noon daily. If a student doesn’t check-in by this time they will be marked absent for the day.
When are assignments due?
Assignments are due by 3:15 on the day that the teacher wants the work complete.
Incomplete assignments are docked 10% each day it is late up to 30% off the grade.
Do Students need to be “in-class” at a certain time of the day?
No, we will not require students to be on-line at a certain time everyday. However, there will be times when teachers will attempt to go live with students, and these will be recorded for those who cannot be live at that time.
How can I reach my teacher for help?
Teachers will be checking their Classroom and Email daily from 8:00- 3:15.
They will have office hours for phone conversations/Google Meet from 10:00-1:00 pm. Use THIS DOCUMENT for teacher email and phone.
How do students get excused?
Students who are ill and are unable to turn in assignments should be excused by a parent by emailing the school or call 269-429-7861 ext. 201. They will be marked excused in PowerSchool.
What about classes that are in-class skill work like Chorus, Band, PE, etc.?
Each of these classes will still require some sort of work to show mastery of skills. That will be determined by each teacher.
We know this may not be an all-encompassing list. There will be more questions. Teachers understand that this is new for students and it is new for teachers. We do not want to overwhelm students and will look for feedback on how things are going.
Send an email to Mr. Herbst with questions or accommodations needed.
God Bless!!
