What Is Scrip?
You’re purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing and other essentials.
With every purchase, you earn rebates you can apply toward tuition or donate to ML.
Scrip is a popular fundraiser because families don’t have to sell anything. Organization members produce revenue by making regular household purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts and even gasoline can be purchased with scrip.

Paying Online with PrestoPay
It’s easy to sign up for PrestoPay:
- Click on the PrestoPay link on your Dashboard.
- Enter your bank account and account holder information.
- Within 2-3 business days, we will deposit two small amounts in your bank account. The next time you log in, enter these amounts in your PrestoPay registration to verify the account and choose a PIN to use each time you make an online payment.
- You will receive an email with an approval code. Please forward that code to the ML SCRIP coordinator at bbriney@michiganlutheran.org to complete the PrestoPay setup.
- Once the setup is complete you can start using PrestoPay
Note: If a PrestoPay ACH payment is returned by your bank (i.e. insufficient funds, closed account, etc.), then you will need to reimburse ML for a $30 NFS charge. In addition, if your SCRIP order was already filled, you will also need to reimburse ML for the full cost of the filled order. ML may revoke your PrestoPay privilege if you do not reimburse ML within 3 business days.
Notables
You can use your portion of your rebates (70%) to pay current and future tuition, or you can donate it to the ML.
- The ML SCRIP year ends on May 15.
- The rebates that you generate will be distributed annually at the end of May.
- Annual statements and tax acknowledgements will be provided in June.
- A minimum rebate of $25 must be generated for a rebate distribution or a tax acknowledgement.
- If you chose a tuition credit, the rebates will be applied to any outstanding tuition at the end of May. Any remaining rebates will be applied to next year’s tuition for current freshman, sophomore and junior students. If there are remaining rebates for a Senior, then you will need to complete a new agreement or money will go to ML Tuition Assistance Fund.
- Rebates for future students will accumulate and be applied at the beginning of their freshman year.
- If you chose to receive an acknowledgement of your charitable donation, we will provide you with the required acknowledgement under sections 170(f)(8) and 170(f)(17) of the Internal Revenue Code.
